District Goals

 

DISTRICT PRIORITY AREA 1:  STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
Goal 1 Provide a data-driven, evidence-based instructional program that effectively addresses the educational needs of all students and supports high levels of academic achievement and student success.

2016/2017
Strategies

  • Provide teachers with professional development to support districtwide implementation of Write from the Beginning.
  • Develop a district coaching plan to support highly effective teaching and learning.
  • Develop a teacher certification program for providing Gifted and Talented Education (GATE).
  • Implement a districtwide “Bring Your Own Device” program for students in grades five and six. Plan for expansion at additional grade levels for 2017/2018.
  • Begin Phase 1 implementation of the Learning Center Model. Plan for Phase 2 implementation at additional school sites for 2017/2018.
  • Provide teacher training on intervention curricula to support struggling students.
  • Provide extended learning opportunities for English learners.
  • Implement a state preschool program to increase kindergarten readiness for low income students.
  • Implement grade level data dialogs facilitated by the school principal to support data-driven instruction.
  • Revise math benchmarks to more closely align with Smarter Balanced assessments and to inform teacher planning and instruction in mathematics.
  • Provide professional development and staff cross-training to effectively address student behavioral needs.

DISTRICT PRIORITY AREA 2:  STEM & MUSIC
Goal 2 Promote student innovation and creativity through the development of STEM and music programs that serve all students.
2016/2017
Strategies
  • Develop a structure for providing weekly music instruction, which includes a districtwide music schedule, course objectives each grade level, and performance opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Anaheim Union High School District to ensure a high-quality music program for students, K-12.
  • Support transition to the Next Generation Science Standards by developing foundational understanding of the science and engineering practices through teacher professional development and hands-on learning experiences for students.
  • Pursue outside resources to support the STEM and music programs.
DISTRICT PRIORITY AREA 3:  DISTRICT CLIMATE
Goal 3 Foster a positive district climate by building strong internal and external relationships to support student achievement.
2016/2017
Strategies
  • Maintain a high level of administrative visibility at school sites and community events.
  • Provide timely communication to staff and community to ensure they are well-informed about the district’s mission, vision, goals, initiatives, and accomplishments.
  • Engage parents, staff, and community by providing opportunities for participation, input, and feedback.
  • Provide parent education opportunities.

DISTRICT PRIORITY AREA 4:  RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
Goal 4 Effectively manage resources to maximize student success while maintaining the financial health of the district.
2016/2017
Strategies
  • Maintain a three-year positive budget certification, which includes the current year as well as the following two years.
  • Monitor the health of the district’s budget and provide status reports during the year at regular public Board Meetings.
  • Annually conduct an independent audit of the district finances to ensure the fiscal health of the district.
  • Align resources to identified district goals, including those in the Local Control and Accountability Plan.
  • Ensure school facilities are safe and well-maintained in order to provide an optimal environment for student learning.
