NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN of the intention of the Cypress School District Board of Trustees to hold a public hearing or hearings on the Education Code Section 60119, which establishes steps and procedures to ensure the availability of textbooks and instructional materials.
The Board shall encourage participation by parents, teachers, members of the community interested in the affairs of the school district, and bargaining unit leaders, and shall make a determination, through a resolution, as to whether each pupil in each school in the district has sufficient textbooks or instructional materials, or both, that are aligned to the content standards adopted pursuant to Section 60605 or 60605.8 in each of the following subjects, as appropriate, that is consistent with the content and cycles of the curriculum framework adopted by the state board:
(iii) History-social science
(iv) English/language arts, including English language development component of an adopted program
The public hearing will be held on September 13, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the Cypress School District Administration Office, 9470 Moody Street, Cypress, California 90630. At such time, the comments of all interested persons regarding the subject of the Instructional Materials Sufficiency Intended for Traditional and Year-Round Academic Calendar for 2017-2018 will be heard.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Governing Board of the Cypress School District, at its Regular Board Meeting to be held on May 11, 2017, will present draft trustee area maps and proposed sequence of elections for public input. This public hearing is part of the process for establishing a “by-trustee area” elections methodology.
It is anticipated that the Governing Board will formally adopt a single map following the public hearing on May 11, 2017. The draft maps and proposed sequence of elections can be accessed via the district’s website.
