Raptor Technologies Visitor Management System

As part of the Cypress School District’s commitment to student and staff safety, all our schools will use the Raptor visitor management system beginning with the 2017/18 school year. We believe school safety includes knowing who is on our campuses at all times. The Raptor visitor management system enables us to monitor visitors, contractors, and volunteers in our schools and helps us provide a more secure environment.

Anyone wishing to visit a school or volunteer on campus must present valid state-issued identification. School office staff will scan the identification card, and the Raptor system will check to ensure registered sex offenders are not entering our campuses. It is important to note that the system only scans the visitor’s name, ID number, date of birth, and photo for comparison with a national database of registered sex offenders. Additional visitor data from the ID card is not gathered, nor is Raptor connected to other governmental agencies, such as the Department of Motor Vehicles. Once entry is approved, the Raptor system will print a personalized badge for the day. For additional information on the Raptor system, see the Frequently Asked Questions below or visit the Raptor Technologies website.

If you are a registered school volunteer, you will be able to use a self-help kiosk in the office following your initial clearance through the Raptor system. The self-help kiosk allows you to check in, print a volunteer badge, and sign out when leaving campus. School visitors, on the other hand, will need to check in and sign out with school office personnel on each visit and will not be able to use the self-help kiosk. This procedure ensures classroom visits are prearranged, which protects important instructional time from interruption and further supports student and staff safety.

If you would like to become a registered school volunteer, you will need to complete an application. In addition to the sex offender check conducted through the Raptor system, volunteers also need tuberculosis (TB) clearance, which is required for anyone having frequent and prolonged contact with students (Education Code 35021 and 49406). The application is easily accessible online and takes only a few minutes to complete. More information about TB clearance is provided on the volunteer application form and is also available on the Parent Involvement page of the district website.

The success of Cypress School District is built on a strong foundation of parent and community involvement in our schools. We value your participation and appreciate your understanding as we implement the Raptor visitor management system. The safety and well-being of our students and staff is always a top priority!
