Cypress School District offers both traditional and transitional kindergarten (TK) programs.
TK is the first year of a two-year kindergarten program that uses a modified kindergarten curriculum in the first year that is age and developmentally appropriate. Program content is based upon the California Preschool Learning Foundations and the California state standards for kindergarten. TK is a districtwide program, and classes are centralized at various school sites within the district. As a result, your child may be assigned to attend TK at a school other than your home school. Age-eligible children who enroll in TK will complete regular kindergarten the following year, typically at their home school except in the instances of interdistrict, intradistrict, or administrative transfers.
Kindergarten enrollment for the new school year begins in February.

Our priority is always to ensure that students attend their home school or the school of choice elected by their parent(s). However, when a grade level is full at a school, we may need to administratively transfer a newly enrolled student to another school within the Cypress School District that has seats available to ensure optimal student learning.
